Drawing for Dreams

· charity,fundraising,education,india

We live in a privileged time where we can make a living by doing what we love. We live in 'start up central' here in Bangalore and our passion can become our vocation and so many of us don't have to be tied down to a 9 to 5 in order to sustain ourselves. In my immediate circle, I know the most talented writers, bakers, artists, musicians, game designers, bloggers, photographers and the list goes on. And I have the amazing privilege of drawing and designing for a living. At some point in our lives and our stories, someone encouraged our dreams or gave us a nudge forward or we found ourselves in some privileged situation to be able to live out these realities.

For every one of us who gets to live our dream, there are hundreds in our country who can't afford to dream. They have families to support and their survival to worry about and the luxury of dreaming is out of their reach. So this month, Im going to be 'Drawing for dreams' This is my way of dedicating my career and time to those who have not been as fortunate as me.

As we witness amazing levels of progress in the world and in the industries around us, we can't afford to leave half our country behind and just pursue our own dreams. We have a responsibility to share this privilege with the future generations of our country.

This is where U&I comes in.

Started in 2011, U&I is a non-profit created with the vision of building communities of change. Every day, U&I’s volunteers invest 2.5 hours to teach and mentor children from underprivileged backgrounds. We teach them core subjects, we play games, conduct workshops and take them on field trips. In every class, we affirm them so they know that they have what it takes to change the world.

This month, i'm going to be Drawing for Dreams and raising money for the kids at U&I. Join me and lets share our privileges with these amazing kids who have just us much (if not more) potential than any of us. Let's inspire them to dream and reach for the stars.
